In brief, the Planning Commission is comprised of seven members.  Responsibilities include developing the village’s Master Plan, reviewing proposed site plans and amendments to site plans, reviewing and/or recommending new ordinances regarding zoning issues.
The Design Review Board is comprised of seven members. It was created to preserve, protect and enhance the ecologically and historically unique environment and aesthetic charm of the village. The board reviews architectural designs and exterior renovation plans. Commissioners and board members are appointed by the village president with concurrence of Council.

Village Council members are called trustees and elected for four-year terms.  Terms are staggered to provide stability and perspective. Elections are held bi-annually in November of even-numbered years.

Mobile Watch is a group of residents who patrol village streets. Should they see anything suspicious, it is reported immediately to the Franklin Bingham Police Department. Mobile Watch meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. Meetings are currently held via Zoom. To contact Mobile Watch, call secretary Ellanore Evans at 248-594-3421.
